Weighed down from stress, working into the late hours of the night, or finding yourself in the office on Saturdays? A busy law office can be both a blessing and a curse.

It’s common to feel overwhelmed, burdened by the weight of your work, but at the same time hesitant to hire someone to help. You may think to yourself that you have no choice, but to do everything on your own. The thought of hiring someone is daunting. Not to mention the time to train them and then… what if they leave?

I am here to tell you, there is a better way!

It is not always necessary to hire someone full time, and in many case you actually need a small army of part time specialists until your business has the workload to support full time staff. Here’s a quick exercise to help you identify where you need help right away.

  1. First, start by crafting a list of items that you are currently late on.
  2. Is there a pattern in your procrastination? Tasks you consistently put off because you hate doing them?
  3. How much time do you spend doing work below your hourly rate? (Hours per week)
  4. How many hours do you devote to marketing, business development, or calling potential clients?
  5. Does managing your calendar feel like a full time job riddled with stress and anxiety?

How you answer the above questions will tell you if it’s worth trying out a virtual assistant, paralegal, freelance marketing assistant, part time intake person, or other specialty.

There is a better way to work with virtual employees. By using services or agencies that understand the way law firms work, the nuances of your practice area and the daily challenges you face a virtual employee can often be more efficient than one sitting in your office. Which means, if person were efficient enough, could the job be done in half the time?

What if, instead of drowning in work, you could craft a list of items that would help you stay focused or get more done? What would you take off your plate?

Document prep, data entry, client intake, appointment scheduling or reports that could dramatically improve the way you run your business? You have an opportunity to better leverage the money and time you would be spending on a traditional employee.

Wish you had more time to follow up with clients, or could find an hour to send out referral cards? Utilizing a virtual assistant to take over minor tasks or client follow can help you maintain the business you have, so that you can grow into the business you want it to be. Let go of the notion of a traditional employee, and envision your ideal support partner.

In this upcoming webinar, I’ll break down the most common virtual assistant, and freelance services available to you. How to use them, and most importantly how to make the relationship work through systems, and accountability.
